Welcome Wednesday: A New Do
I am participating in LOAD (layout a day) this month. It has been fabulous for my scrapbooking. Last week we had a challenge to do with one of the five senses: touch. I went through my pictures and found pictures from my Little Man's first hair cut and knew that I wanted to use those pictures. His baby curls were so soft and pretty, but were getting way too long, so he needed trim. He got a buzz from daddy and I saw a little boy where my baby boy had been. And of course, we did a lot of head rubbing on that newly buzzed hair cut.
Well, I had the pictures picked out and a template from Scrapping with Liz. I needed a kit. I went in search of one, but could not find one that suited my needs. So I made one. I love the way my layout turned out.
Once I finished the layout, I added more to what I had created so that I could provide a full kit for you all. A New Do was born. The kit has 13 papers and 33 elements. I love the way this came together. This kit is 25% off through Sunday.
After I finished this one up, I realized that I really was missing something in it. The clippers. So I made a little add on for the kit that contains some great papers and the clippers, of course. You can find in on my facebook page.

Type Tuesday: Fonts for Peas print fonts
I introduced you to one of my favorite Fonts For Peas fonts last week, Bitt Bitt, but I wanted to show you some of the incredible fonts that Amanda so generously shares for free. Today I have chosen several of the print fonts. I really like Fonts for Peas for the journaling on my layouts. I think if you take the time to go through the fonts (there are hundreds) you will find one similar to your handwriting that you can use for journaling. And if not, well Amanda actually will make fonts from your handwriting. Although it is a lot of fun to go through the fonts, it does take awhile. So, I thought I would share some of my favorites that you can look at all in one place. You can then head over to Fonts for Peas and grab it. Amanda likes to add little doodles to the fonts and I included some of those in the image.
*did you catch that this is volume 1, yeah, there is more to come*

I warned you to be on the look out for more palettes from the amazing work of Princess Lasertron. I am tempted to use one of the gorgeous bouquets for each palette for the next several weeks. They are just so beautiful and I love the colors. Enjoy.

Type Tuesday: Bitt Bitt
How many of you know about Fonts for Peas? If you already know about them, then you probably love them like I do. If you don't know about them, prepare for a font heaven. Amanda, the creator of Fonts for Peas, is incredibly generous with her fonts. She creates fonts for people based on their handwriting and their doodles (so fun). Then she offers them for free on Fonts for Peas. May favorite use for them is journaling. This is one that I have been using quite a bit lately. If you look at my recent layouts you can see it in use.

Master it Monday - Dropbox Tutorial
I hope you all had a great iNSD weekend. I did. I was able to get 13 layouts completed!!! Although I am a designer, I started out as and am still a scrapper. I had a blast running all around digi-land participating in the blog and facebook hops to get some great new products to play with. But in doing so, I found myself getting a little frustrated with the downloads from 4-shared and Media Fire. 4-Shared has started randomly requiring people to sign in to download, and Media Fire has always bugged me because of the pop-ups. But those are the things you have to put up with when you use a free service, right? WRONG!! A few months ago I discovered Dropbox. Ok, I have had a Dropbox account for 3 years, but I recently learned how to use that account for sharing my products with you. The best thing is that I can do a direct download for you all. At first I hesitated using it because I do like the download tracking I get with 4-Shared (I like knowing how many of you grabbed a kit). But I found Bitly. Using Bitly and Dropbox together, I can provide a direct download to you and I can still keep tabs on what is popular.
UPDATE*** You cannot have more than 20GB/day of activity through your free Dropbox account. If you will go beyond that (so, if my math is correct, if you freebie is 100 mb it would have to be downloaded at least 200 times a day to go over). If you do go over, they send you a notice and suspend your account for three days. If you go over again.....they suspend you. But that is not necessarily a bad thing, that means you are popular and people are downloading your stuff, right? But it also means you need to find another method of hosting your freebies.
I decided after dealing with 4-Shared and MediaFire downloads all weekend, I would write a quick tutorial on using Dropbox for downloads. This tutorial is geared a little more towards my fellow designers, but if you often send photos or layouts to friends and family, you might find this useful.
First, go download Dropbox. A little plug for me: if you use this link, then we both get 500mb more free space -http://db.tt/20ZKqB1W
Go ahead and use the installation wizard to install it to your computer.
There are two ways you can get a product into your Dropbox. You can do it on your computer or online. When you installed Dropbox, it installed a folder on your computer. Mine is located: LocalDisk -Users-Teri-Dropbox
I actually created a shortcut on my desktop for Dropbox to make it easier to get to.
When you open Dropbox, you should see two folders: Photos and Public. I also have a Piccolina Designs folder (you can add folders from your account).
Copy to zip files of the product you want to share to the Public folder.
You will see that the file is in your Dropbox, but it has the blue rotating icon on it. Once it is completed copying to your Dropbox folder, it will have a green checkmark like my other files do.
Some uploads may take awhile. Once it has a green check by it, you can share it. To get the link, right click on the file, then select Dropbox, Copy Public Link.
This will copy the link to your clipboard, you can open a text document and paste it there for reference.
Now if you do not care about tracking the number of downloads you have on an item, you can simply use this link as you would a Mediafire or 4-shared one. The only difference is that it is now a direct download link.
Before we move onto Bitly and tracking your download, just a quick note on uploading to dropbox via your account online. Log in to your account and you should see your folders. Double click on the "Public" folder to open it and then you can click the Upload icon to find your files and upload them.
Now, lets move to tracking your download using Bitly. You will need to create a Bitly account at https://bitly.com/. Just click on Sign Up.
Once you are logged in, your screen should look similar to this:
I am a fan of the Bitly Fish icon :). Now paste you Dropbox link into the blue box. It is instantly going to shorten it into a Bitly link. You can see underneath the blue box that it did it right. It shows your bitly link and the original, long, link.Under that, in links and Bundle History, you will see you Dropbox link with a blue number to its left. This is your download tracker number. Mine is zero at the moment, because I have not shared the link. To share the link, copy the shortened link in the blue box and use it just like you would any download link you share. Once you have shared the link, then you can come back into your Bitly account and see how many folks have grabbed it.
Now I guess I should share the link with you all. :) This link is for a template I made for a challenge the Big Picture Creative Crop this weekend. The image is linked.
This is the layout I made using it.![]() |
